Syringa patula 'Dream Cloud'™, a Manchurian Lilac that forms a cumulus-like mound of fragrant flowers in early summer and offers a foliage show with leaves turning to purple in fall, is full of large pale lavender-pink blossoms. The fairly compact size of these shrubs, growing to about 125 cm tall and wide, makes them ideal as patio plants, solitary, foundation plantings and for forming a border that is fragrant in early summer. The leaves have a purple fall coloring before dropping off. Most lilacs prefer full sun and neutral to slightly alkaline soil. To avoid removing next season's flowers, pruning should be done immediately after flowering.
